Always treat stains
promptly.
To remove blood
1. Flush cold water
through the stain and scrape off crusted material.
2. Soak for 15 minutes in a mixture of 1 quart of lukewarm water, 1/2
teaspoon liquid dishwashing detergent, and 1 tablespoon ammonia. Use cool /
lukewarm water. (Heat can set stain.) Rub gently from the back to loosen
stain.
3. Soak another 15 minutes in above mixture. Rinse. Soak for at least 30
minutes. Soak aged stains longer. Launder.
4. If the stain is not completely removed by this, wet the stain with
hydrogen peroxide and a few drops of ammonia. Do not leave this mixture on
longer than 15 minutes. Rinse with cool water.
5. If stain has dried, pretreat with prewash stain remover, liquid laundry
detergent, or a paste of granular laundry product and water. Launder using
bleach safe for fabric.
To remove urine/vomit
1. Scrape off what you can.
2. Fresh stains can often be removed by just soaking and agitating in cold
water. Don't use hot water.
3. Soak in cold water using a detergent or enzyme product for about 30 minute.
Soak old stains several hours.
4. Launder in warm, not hot water, rinse and inspect. If stain remains, soak an
additional 30 minutes, then rewash.
Never put a stained fabric in the dryer, or the heat will set the stain.
5. If color stain still remains, launder using a chlorine bleach if safe for the
fabric.
